Battery and ELT

We’ve decided to use Z-14 from the Bob’s Aerolectric Collection. Thus we will be using a dual battery setup. We also plan to mount the power supply and ELT as Randy and other’s have suggested who have built before us!

The dual battery setup will have a battery box built for it as well as a hold down. The batteries sit forward slightly from the plans to clear the pitch server installed on the bellcrank bracket.

The power supply we are using was purchased from the Strobe Guy. The unit is equivalent to the FAA cert. product in it’s capacity to drive strobes. We plan to build a small “hat” shelf over the power supply for our ELT to be mounted to. The battery cover (baggage floor) will be hinged to facilitate quick and easy access to this area.

The challenge...... how do you put two Panasonic batteries where one g35 battery was designed to go? Rick and I plan to wire the plane according to the z-14 wiring diagram - two batteries and dual alternators. Below you can see my solution and the fabrication of the battery box for our batteries. The weight of the two batteries is within a few ounces of the original G35 that was to go there.
