Rudder Pedals

We borrowed Tom Martin’s suggestion to place the firewall brackets more in line with the swing of the rudder pedals. We formed a bend in the upper angle with our stretcher and placed wedges behind the brackets already mounted to the firewall. Now I’ll build a bracket to capture the upper bolt of the rudder pedal and the master cylinder.

I found a nice pedal assembly in an RV4 at Osh last year I really liked and we plan to copy. I spoke to the Owner, Greg Klema and he told me that the entire plane was inspired by Lyle Hefel of RV fame

June, 2003
Drilled the rudder firewall mounts to size per the plans. Installed rudder pedals and connecting cables to rear rudder pedals for machup.

February 2004
Rick begins construction of the front rudder pedal brakes. We will be copying a design I saw at Osh on a plane influenced by Lyle Hefel.

I went ahead and moved the rudder cable outboard in the pilots area. We used the tooling hole for a pass through in the spare bulkhead and used a dowel to help locate the forward bulkhead penetration.
